Prenatal Mobility and Comfort
6 Week Prenatal Yoga Program for the Second Trimester
The sickness has gone and something else has arrived. The lower back has opinions by the evening, the hips ache in bed, and underneath it all is a low hum of worry that nobody has quite named yet. This is also the stretch where you have the most energy you are going to get.
Our yoga teachers built this six week program for weeks fourteen to twenty-eight specifically, rather than for pregnancy in general. Wide standing work that takes load off the lower back, pelvic mobility while it is still easy to find, and the breathing and relaxation that the research says is the part doing the work.
Twice a week, plus ten minutes on other days. Four sequences, six weeks. Six rather than twelve because the whole program fits inside the second trimester that way, with room to spare.

Two Weeks to Settle In
Learn the modifications and the two breathing practices.
The first two weeks establish what this looks like in a pregnant body: feet wider than usual, a chair within reach, three minutes on hands and knees with the bump hanging rather than being carried, and a rest on your left side rather than on your back. Plus the two breathing practices, which are not the ending but the point.

The Standing Work
Take load off the lower back by putting it in the legs.
The middle two weeks do the standing work from the one trial that published its full pose list. Worth knowing what that trial found: the specific back pain score did not separate from the control group, while walking speed, standing time and turning all improved measurably, and the general pregnancy symptom score improved clearly. Something changes in how you move even where the pain score does not move.
Integrate · Weeks 5 to 6
Breathing You Can Take With You
Practise the relaxation long enough that it becomes usable.
The last two weeks shift towards breathing and a longer rest. In the trial with the clearest stress result, the measurable shift in the nervous system during guided relaxation was larger at week 36 than at week 20. It grows with practice. Twelve minutes of it now is an investment in what is available to you later.

Why these poses and not others
The Prenatal Mobility and Comfort practice guide explains what each pose does and why it belongs to this goal. It also carries the safety notes and every study this program is built on. Read it if you want the reasoning rather than the plan.
