Phase 2 · Stand and Load
Part of the 6 Week Yoga Program for Ankle Stability and Balance
30 Minute Yoga Sequence for Ankle Strength and Stability
The middle two weeks, where the whole leg starts carrying. An unstable ankle is never only an ankle problem.
In the trial that compared three approaches head to head, both the balance group and the breathing-centred stabilisation group beat conventional physiotherapy on every outcome measured, with large effect sizes. What both had in common was load through the whole leg rather than exercises for the joint on its own. That is what these thirty minutes do. The ankle is the bottom of a chain that runs up through the calf, the knee and the hip, and a chain gives way at whichever link nobody trained.
